The Head Hunters gang were recently found with numerous fake identities that they were using to hide assets.

But last year another man was found to have faked a NZ Firearms licence.

The Police say that he made others under different names.

He then purchased numerous guns at numerous gun stores.

According to the media, he was also somehow able to acquire permits to procure restricted weapons from the police.

Licenced dealers and collectors were urged to be on the alert for the man last year.

The Kiwi Gun Blog asked the Police for details of this man’s fraud and if he has since been captured. We wanted to find out his sentence and to know if any of the arms had been recovered.

It has just been confirmed that – as of today – he has not yet been apprehended.

The Police have refused to answer how he may have circumvented their other systems.

They will not say if permit to procure forms were issued.

The matter has been referred to the ombudsman.

We need to know what he did and how he did it.

Was this incompetence or are there vulnerabilities in our system?

Is this further evidence that registration is an expensive farce?

Because if criminals are now making a joke out of our current permit system then that is a cause for serious concern.
