A Hawke’s Bay police officer has lost an M4 rifle magazine – filled with ammunition.

This occurred after they left it on the roof of a patrol car and simply drove off.

This happened on Wednesday after police executed a search warrant on an address in Trinity Cres, in Napier.

At the time of writing the magazine is still missing.

Hawke’s Bay acting area commander, Inspector Matt Broderick, said the error was regrettable and should not have occurred.

“The magazine is described as curved black plastic shape containing ammunition, and police are asking it to be returned to the nearest police station if it is found”.
